Blackwork

This is a Blackwork embroidery design I worked on 28-ct Evenweave fabric to put on the collar of my middle-class Elizabethan chemise. Blackwork embroidery is worked in "double running-stitch," in which the design is worked in a running stitch twice, once one way and once the opposite way, to form a reversible design on the fabric. (Or it would be reversible, if I could just figure out how to make discreet knots.) Elizabethan Blackwork ,is where I got this design pattern and learned the basics on the stitch, and is the best on-line resource I have found for practical information on this subject.
