Torchon Lace Sample

This is a sample of a pattern I worked for a handkerchief edging, from The Bobbin Lace Manual, by Geraldine Stott. (enlarged to show detail) After working the sample, I decided to enlarge the original pattern because I didn't like how close it ended up, at three-quarters of an inch wide. I could have achieved a similar effect by using smaller thread, but I didn't want to deal with ordering specialty threads just yet. (I was using DMC tatting cotton, which is readily available.) I start pricking the enlarged version today!
