The Snowfall
by Anneliese M. Kvamme
Soft and whispered
   the snow drifts down
To blanket house and farm
   and countryside around
With peaceful white--
   A quilt handsewn
By deity, with crystals
   delicately blown
To rest upon the
   slumbering earth--
In perfect form
   and frozen warmth.
If one may lay beneath the cloak and
   lifetime vigil keep
How quickly and with comfort
   he may surely sleep--
